Proposal: Day Care Center Expansion Location: 8605-07 S. Cottage Grove Ave. The Baby Academy
This is in reference to a request for a determination of the off-street parking requirement pursuant to Section 17-10-207-E of the Chicago Zoning Ordinance, for an existing day care center in an B3-2 Community Shopping District.
According to the information you have provided, you have had a license since 1998 to care for children ages 6 weeks to 23 months, and are now seeking a license to care for ages children 2 to 6 years old. You will not be increasing the number of children or staff.
Because there will not be an increase in the number of children or employees at the facility, no additional parking is required. However, since children will be dropped off and picked up at the center the Department believes that two drop-off spaces should be provided to safely accommodate their movements.
Therefore, the Department of Housing and Economic Development determines that no additional off-street parking spaces are required, but that there should be two drop-off spaces. The drop-off space may be located on-street provided they are within a designated loading zone.
