Dear Clerk del Valle:
Enclosed is a certified copy of the Tabulated Statement of Returns and Proclamation of the Results ofthe Canvass of the Election Returns prepared by the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago in relation to the February 22, 2011 Municipal General Election. This Statement includes the results of one (1) local option referendum conducted pursuant to the Liquor Control Act of 1934 in Ward 26, Precinct 2.
According to Section 9-3 of the Act, a vote under its provisions becomes operative on the 30th day after the day of the election at which such vote is cast.
Please be advised that a petition to contest the validity of an election conducted under the Liquor Control Act may be filed within 10 days after the canvass of the returns pursuant to section 9-19 of the Liquor Control Act. (235 ILCS 5/9-19) The deadline for filing a contest to the validity of a local option referendum is Monday, March 21, 2011 (the 10th day after the canvass proclamation is Sunday, March 20; March 21 is the next business day).
A petition to contest the results of an election at which a local option referendum conducted under the Liquor Control Act may be filed within 30 days after the results of the election are determined. (10 ILCS 5/23-24) The deadline for filing a contest of the election results pursuant to Section 23-24 of the Election Code is Monday, April 11, 2011 (the 30th day after the canvass proclamation is Saturday, April 9; April 11 is the next business day).
