RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Home to a diverse economy, unrivaled workforce and quality of life, the City of Chicago is a thriving global business location, whose unique and dynamic character can be attributed to its people, its infrastructure, and its collaborative business and government community; and '
WHEREAS, Centrally located, Chicago provides easy access to the world and is a leader in a number of key industries, including business and financial services, manufacturing, information technology, health services, and transportation; and
WHEREAS, Alongside with its pro-business environment, market access and economic diversity, the City also offers a vibrant mix of cultural, educational and social attractions; and
WHEREAS, In order to enhance the City's economy by fostering growth in the private sector, the City formed a public/private partnership with prominent business leaders to establish World Business Chicago, a not-for-profit economic development corporation; and
WHEREAS, World Business Chicago continually works to raise the City's profile as a premier global business destination and serves as a resource for companies by developing collaborative partnership and outreach programs, and providing businesses with economic and industry data, site location assistance and state and local incentive information; and
WHEREAS, The City Council is desirous of being advised semi-annually by World Business Chicago about its efforts to advance the City's position as a world business leader; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the Members of the City Council of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby request that the City Council Committee on Economic, Capital and Technology Development hold a hearing semi-annually and invite a representative from World Business Chicago to appear before it to advise the City Council on World Business Chicago's efforts to attract and retain businesses within the City; and
