RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga, a widely admired member of the diplomatic community, will complete his distinguished tenure as the Consul General of Mexico in Chicago in April of 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his arrival in Chicago, Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga served as the Consul General of Mexico for Miami and had in his jurisdiction the entire state of Florida; and
WHEREAS, A career member of the Mexican Foreign Service, Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga previously served as Mexico's ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Iceland, the People's Republic of China, the Kingdom of Belgium, and the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg; and
WHEREAS, Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga has been decorated by the governments of eleven countries and served as Mexico's representative to the Council of Europe from 1998 through 2000; and
WHEREAS, Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga holds both a J.D. and an M.A. in Government, and has studied public administration and social development planning; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby offer our appreciation to Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga for his years of diplomatic service in Chicago and extend to him our best wishes in his future pursuits; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Manuel Rodriguez Arriaga.
