MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING LORETTA W, CHLOPEK
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the City Council of the City of Chicago has been informed of the death of Loretta W. Chlopek; and
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom had chosen to call His precious daughter, Loretfa W. Chiopek home to her eternal reward at the age of eighty-four, Tuesday, May 5, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Born December 11, 1924, Loretta Willamennia was the loving daughter of Charles and Hannah Puis. She was the caring sister of fifteen siblings. During her lifetime, Loretta was affectionately known as "Willie", and "Lori" by her family and friends; after the birth of her grandchildren she was called "Nonnie"; and her second husband nicknamed her "Blondie"; and
WHEREAS, Loretta matured into a young woman filled with an abundance of grace, charm and wisdom and soon captured the heart of the man who was to become her husband, Samuel J. Rizzo, Sr. On January 9, 1948, Loretta Puis and Samuel J. Rizzo, Sr. were joined in marriage, vowing their faithfulness and love to one another; and to this union seven children were born. Sam and Loretta shared twenty-two years of happiness and togetherness with each other and their children. The Lord called her beloved husband, Sam, home June 9, 1970, at the age of forty-nine. Samuel J. Rizzo, Sr. was the founder and partner of A&J Truck Parts, Illinois Clutch Company and JATS Driveshaft; and
WHEREAS, Loretta, some of her children and grandchildren, who lived in three adjacent houses, remained residents in their grateful Little Village community for more than twenty-five years; and j
WHEREAS, On May 12, 1990 Loretta Rizzo and Kenneth Chlopek were united in Holy Matrimony. During their nineteen years of marriage, Ken and Lori shared memorable times with their 10 children, 22 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Loretta's legacy is her family. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, devoted and loving mother, wonderful and caring grandmother (Nonnie), special great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor who reached out and touched their hearts, leaving an indelible impression. Lori, will be forever remembered for her kindness, compassion, strength and the depth of her love which is eternal; and
WHEREAS, Loretta W. Chlopek is now reunited with her first husband Samuel J. Rizzo, Sr.; daughter, Sandra L. Pawlak (nee Rizzo); son, Gregory S. Rizzo,
 
her parents and 14 siblings. Loretta leaves behind to mourn her loss, celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Kenneth Chlopek; her loving and devoted children, Samuel J. Rizzo Jr. (Elizabeth); Angeline J. Carney/Zbiegien (William); Bogdan Pawlak (Darlene); Phillip R. Rizzo (Deborah),-Milena Strama/Rizzo (Raymond); Lawrence G. Rizzo (Cynthia) (nee Chlopek); Dawn M. Kotrba (nee Rizzo) (Robert); Michael Chlopek and Renee Dismang (nee Chlopek) (John); her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart, Tammy Petrovich (nee Rizzo) (Art), Samuel Rizzo III, Nikki Cece (nee Rizzo) (Saverio); James E. Zbiegien, Lisa M. Rodrigues (nee Zbiegien) (Sanjay), Timothy Carney (Christie), Gregory Carney; Joseph Pawlak (Chrissy), Lorianne Pritchard (nee Pawlak) (Michael); Tracy Rizzo, Leslie Warren (nee Rizzo) (Brian); Jeanine O'Donnell (nee Rizzo) (Brian), Jessica Stroma";. Gregory Rizzo, Daniel Rizzo; Samantha Kotrba, Robert Kotrba, Jr.; Jason Chlopek, Jennifer Chlopek; James Dismang, Mark Dismang and Matthew Dismang; great grandchildren, Zachary Petrovich, Paige Petrovich; Saverio Cece, Ella Cece; Taylor Zbiegien, Kern Rodrigues, Andrew Rodrigues, Griffin Carney; Brandon Pritchard, Tyler Pritchard, Nathan Pritchard; Jaelin Werner; and Keira O'Donnell; sister, Arlene Hutchinson (nee Puis) (John), many nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of loved ones; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard F. Mell, Alderman of the 33rd Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of this good and gentle woman, Loretta, the loving mother of Angeline J. Carney, Assistant Director of the Chicago City Council Legislative Reference Bureau; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, assembled here this thirteenth day of April, 2011, A.D., do hereby offer our deepest condolences to those who love Loretta Chlopek and extend our wishes that the coldness of their grief has been replaced by the warmth of their loving memories of her.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Loretta W. Chlopek.
