TO THE HONORABLE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I transmit herewith a resolution regarding our departing friend and colleague, Alderman
Levar.
Your favorable consideration of this resolution will be appreciated.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber are proud to congratulate our friend and colleague, Alderman Patrick Levar, on his twenty-four years of dedicated service to the people of the 45th Ward and the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Chicago, Alderman Levar was first elected to the Chicago City Council in 1987; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his six terms in office, Alderman Levar served as chairman of the City Council Committee on Aviation, and as vice-chairman of the Committee on the Budget and Government Operations. At various times, he also served as a member of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics; Committee on Special Events and Cultural Affairs; Committee on Police and Fire; Committee on Traffic Control and Safety; Committee on Transportation and Public Way; and Committee on Finance; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure in office, Alderman Levar worked tirelessly on behalf of the people of the 45th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Levar's many accomplishments in office include a new police station on the Ward's northwest side; a beautiful new library in Edgebrook; the Jewel/Osco shopping complex at Six Corners in Portage Park; a $10 million senior citizen residence complex on Northwest Highway; more than $5 million in capital and operational improvements to local schools; more than $1 million in improvements to local parks and playgrounds; and the restoration and grand re-opening of the Portage Park Theatre, one of the oldest movie houses in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated and eminently approachable councilman, who clearly enjoyed the challenges of public service, Alderman Levar did everything in his power to improve the ...
