RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, In 2011, The Peninsula Chicago Hotel celebrates ten years of business excellence in the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Peninsula Chicago Hotel, which opened in 2001, is a luxury hotel featuring the service and style of Hong Kong; and
WHEREAS, Located along Chicago's Magnificent Mile, The Peninsula Chicago Hotel provides five-star accommodation to both locals and visitors, while acting as an elegant backdrop for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions; and
WHEREAS, Top-rated restaurants within The Peninsula Chicago feature authentic Shangainese and Cantonese cuisine, and the daily afternoon tea served in the hotel lobby has become a favorite among Chicagoans; and
WHEREAS, The Peninsula Chicago Hotel values its international heritage and maintains a strong relationship with the local community; and
WHEREAS, On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, a reception will be held at The Peninsula Chicago Hotel to celebrate ten years of success in Chicago; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of May, 2011, do hereby congratulate The Peninsula Chicago Hotel on the occasion of this important milestone; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, Ltd., and Maria Razumich-Zec, Regional Vice-President and Chairman of The Peninsula Chicago Hotel.
