ILLINOSIS ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS
WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Parliamentarians was chartered by the National Association of Parliamentarians in 1961 in Chicago, Illinois with Jeanette Collins serving as president; and
WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Parliamentarians will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 22-23, 2011 in Lisle, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The objectives of this organization are to cooperate with and to promote the educational programs of the National Association of Parliamentarians; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Illinois Association of Parliamentarians have over the years, promoted interest in the study of parliamentary law by individuals and groups, and also the fostering of parliamentary law in public and private schools in the state of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The Association began with the Chicago Association of Parliamentarians chartered in 1960; and
WHEREAS, Five additional units have been chartered in Illinois: Illinois Valley Unit in East Peoria, Marjan Suburban Unit in Hazel Crest, Moraine Valley in Oak Lawn, Mattie Lampkins Unit in Chicago and the Registered Parliamentarians of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Association of Parliamentarians have rendered services to educational institutions, municipalities, profit and non-profit organizations, boards, religious, civic and fraternal organizations, businesses and corporations, with the state of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The current officers are President, Marcella L. Morrison PRP, Chicago; Vice President, Barbara Ann Smith PRP, Warrenville; Secretary, Judith Reynolds PRP, Homewood; Treasurer, Elaine Johnson, Markham; Parliamentarian, Ardith Inman Ret, PRP, Newsletter Editor, Deborah Underwood, Chicago; Historian, Florence Vogel, Arlington Heights; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 18th day of May, 2011, A.D., do hereby proclaim July 17th thru July 23, 2011 be known as "ILLINOIS PARLIAMENT...
