CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ST. PASCAL SCHOOL
WHEREAS, St. Pascal's School Administrators, staff members, students, family members and parishioners are gathering Wednesday May 18, 2011 at the Portage Park Theater to be presented with the "Dream Green School Makeover Monetary Prize"; and
WHEREAS, The Dream Machine Recycle Rally is a new school recycling program designed to educated students, grades K-12, about the importance of recycling, and to give them incentives to make recycling part of their everyday lives by making it convenient and rewarding; and
WHEREAS, Participating schools encouraged their students to collect non-alcoholic beverage containers (plastic bottles and aluminum cans) and bring them to the school and earn credits towards winning the "Dream Green School Makeover Grand Prize"; and
WHEREAS, St. Pascal School earned the highest aluminum/plastic per student recycling count amongst 300 nationwide schools that entered the recycling contest. The Dream Green School Makeover contest ran from November through April and is a part of a collaboration between PepsiCo, and Waste Management, two companies that are committed to making the world a cleaner, greener place; and
WHEREAS, St. Pascal School will receive the Dream Green School Monetary Prize of $100,00.00 which will be used for greening the school; and
WHEREAS, The scope of St. Pascal's influence and inspiration encompasses numerous other activities such as its Youth Ministry program and its Scouts, Cubs and Brownies organizations to its Senior Center, monthly food collections, and the many groups dedicated to such topics as health care, ethnic diversity, poverty and discrimination; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Timothy M. Cullerton, Alderman of the 38th Ward, has apprised this august body of this auspicious occasion; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this eighteenth day of May, 2011, A.D., do hereby congratulate St. Pascal School, winner of the Dream Green School Makeover Grand Prize and extend to them our fervent wishes for St. Pascal's continuing success.
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to St. Pascal School.
