CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO LOIS A. MCGOVERN ON BEING INDUCTED INTO THE 2011 CHICAGO SENIOR CITIZEN HALL OF FAME.
WHEREAS, Lois A. McGovern, 71, is an active member of the Dominican Sisters of Peace and has served on the Senior Advisory Council for four years has been inducted into the 2011 Chicago Senior Citizen Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this significant occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lois A. McGovern, an educator and social worker, was the director of Dehon House, a family shelter in Rogers Park, actively worked on the passage of the Chicago Human Rights Ordinance, led a support group at the Howard Brown Clinic during the AIDS epidemic, has been a representative on Project Irene as a member of her religious congregation; and
WHEREAS, Lois A. McGovern, currently working for the Elderly Housing and Development & Operations Corporation, practices social work in her North Park neighborhood, enabling her to contribute to the quality of life of her neighbors, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of May, 2011, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Lois A. McGovern on being inducted into the 2011 Chicago Senior Citizen Hall of Fame, and wish her every success in any an all of her future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Lois A. McGovern.
