RESOLUTION HONORING MARY TELL ON HER 105™ BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the City Council of the City of Chicago is hereby informed of the observance of Mary Tell's 105th Birthday on May 9, 2011; and .
WHEREAS, Born May 9, 1906 in Hungry, which is now Romania, the former Mary Tell came to the United States as a newly wed. Mary and her husband, who resided in the same hometown in Romania, immigrated to the United States and moved to Chicago where they began . their new life together; and
WHEREAS, As a talented dressmaker, for more than fifty-three years, Mary Tell's x creations were worn by many grateful neighbors and local residents. Mary, a loving mother and wife as well as a dedicated entrepreneur, distributed her time so that she always spent quality time with her husband and their loving son; and
WHEREAS, Mary Tell, an enthusiastic, active and much-loved citizen in Chicago's great 44 Ward community, celebrated her 105 birthday May 9, 2011 at her residence, the Brookdale Senior Living Complex, thereby reaching a milestone very few are fortunate to achieve; and
WHEREAS, Mary is a delightful and intelligent lady with a remarkable memory. Mary has captured many an audience with stories about her life. During the year of her birth some events that occurred were: the Wright Brothers' Patent on May 22; Leroy Robert "Satchel Paige, baseballs greatest pitcher was born July 7; Gandhi introduces Non-Violent Philosophy of Satyagraha at Mass Protest Against Recent Asiatic Law Amendment Ordinance on September 11; the 1906 World Series October 9-14; Atlantic Train Wreck October 28; Auguste Deter was the first person diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease November 4; Fred A. Dobson begins filming the Skyscrapers of New York November 8, and on December 10, 1906 Theodore Roosevelt Won the Nobel Peace Prize; and
WHEREAS, A remarkable women, Mary Tell celebrated this grand occasion with the many friends who have long benefited from her intelligence, fairne...
