ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Section 2-30-030 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting the underscored language as follows:
2-30-030 Commissioner - Powers and duties designated.
The commissioner of the environment shall have the following powers and duties: (1)     To supervise the execution of and implement all laws, ordinances, rules and
regulations pertaining to environmental protection and control as provided in Chapter 11-4 of the
Municipal Code of Chicago;
(26) To participate or otherwise engage in the city's emergency preparedness and emergency response activities.
(27) To enter into grant agreements, cooperation agreements and other agreements or contracts with governmental entities, private business and civic and community groups to enable the general public to conveniently dispose of expired or otherwise unwanted pharmaceutical products in one or more secure locations, and to enable the periodic controlled destruction of such products in a manner that does not harm the environment or risk misuse, and to enter into and execute all such other instruments and to perform any and all acts, including the expenditure of funds subject to appropriation therefor, as shall be necessary or advisable in connection with the implementation of such agreements, including anv renewals thereto,
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon passage and publication.
