SALUTE TO BISHOP CHARLES E. DAVIS, P.P.
WHEREAS, Bishop Charles E. Davis serves as pastor of the Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God for over 43 years with his love, devotion and character; and
WHERERAS, Bishop Charles E. Davis was born October 2, 1923 in Leland, Mississippi. He received salvation April 23, 1954 at Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God in Chicago, IL and has served as a pastor since 1970. On Saturday, November 27th of 2004 he wedded Ms. Jessie Belle Kay, and his family blossomed; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Charles E. Davis has filled many decision-making positions in multiple organizations such as the Illinois District Council Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Rules and Procedure Committee, and as member of the Council's Executive Board; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Charles E. Davis was elevated to the bishopric in 1986 and served as Diocesan of Wyoming District Council, Pacific Northwest District Council, New York and Ontario District Council. In July of 2008, he was re-assigned to the Sixth Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, encompassing the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Charles E. Davis holds several degrees of higher learning: Doctorate of Divinity, Bachelor of Liberal Arts, Bachelor of Bible and Master of Theology. He is highly respected in the religious and secular community; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Charles E Davis has a special love for young people and a strong yearn for them to receive strong education. He awards scholarships to all I.P.C youth with a 2.5 GPA or better for the full four years of college; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20* Ward, has apprised this august body of the eminent retirement of this preeminent spiritual leader; now therefore
