BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 2-08-040 of the municipal code of Chicago, which allows erection of honorary street name designations, the Commissioner of Transportation shall take necessary action for standardization of North Magnolia Avenue, between West Balmoral Avenue and West Bryn Mawr Avenue as "Honorary Marge Britton Way".


SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication.

Reason for honoring:

Marge Britton was a 48th Ward resident her entire life. She attended Mundeline College in Rogers Park. She raised her family on the 5400 block of Magnolia and sent her children to St. Ita's Elementary School on the 5500 block of North Magnolia. She was involved in the creation ofthe Lakewood Balmoral Residents Council, Edgewater's oldest block club. She also worked very closely with former 48th Ward's Aldermans Marion Kennedy Volini, Kathy Osterman and Mary Ann Smith's office before she retired in the late 2000's. She passed away on April 8, 2022.
