RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. was the beloved husband for 57 years of Joan; and
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. was the proud father of Carl and Doris, the cherished grandfather of four and dear great-grandfather to one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago's South Side, Elmer Bauer, Jr. was a proud veteran of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. spent more than twenty-five years in service to the residents of the city in the Chicago Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. served on boats patrolling the Chicago River and Lake Michigan in addition to acting as the Chicago Fire Department's official photographer; and
WHEREAS, Elmer Bauer, Jr. touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Elmer Bauer, Jr. serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Elmer Bauer, Jr. to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Elmer Bauer, Jr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby commemorate Elmer Bauer, Jr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elmer Bauer, Jr.
