RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 67; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle was the beloved husband of Linda; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle was the much-adored father Gretchen and Jeff to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The fourth overall pick in the NBA draft of 1968, Tom Boerwinkle spent his entire 10 season career with the Chicago Bulls; and
 
WHEREAS, In a 1970 match against the Phoenix Suns, Tom Boerwinkle set a franchise record for most rebounds in a single game; and
 
WHEREAS, In that same 1970 season Tom Boerwinkle also set a franchise record for most total rebounds; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle ranks only third to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the number of seasons played for the Chicago Bulls; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle later served as an analyst for the radio broadcasts of the Chicago Bulls from 1991 to 1994; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom Boerwinkle set a high standard for excellence in sports and touched the lives of many with his kindness and consideration; and
 
WHEREAS, With his exemplary sportsmanship, talent and teamwork, Tom Boerwinkle was an integral part of many memorable games that provided hours of enjoyment and excitement to Chicago Bulls fans; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Tom Boerwinkle to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Tom Boerwinkle imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby commemorate Tom Boerwinkle for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Boerwinkle.
