RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-two; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of the North Shore, Jerry Dincin was the loving husband of Susanne Streicker; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin was the much-adored father of Laura, Maya, Paul and Bruce and the grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin was the dear brother of Zola Schneider; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Brooklyn, Jerry Dincin devoted his life to helping the mentally ill and first entered the field working at Fountain House, an innovative psychiatric rehabilitation center in New York City; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin came to Chicago in 1965 and served for nearly forty years as Executive Director of Thresholds, the state's largest organization serving people with severe mental illness; and
 
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Jerry Dincin, Thresholds provided affordable housing, employment assistance and emotional support for its members; and
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin presided over a period of growth for Thresholds which serves more than six-thousand people annually; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jerry Dincin serve as an example to all; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Jerry Dincin was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jerry Dincin imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby commemorate Jerry Dincin for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
