RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez has officially retired as a member of the Chicago Fire Department following thirty-five years of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; anci

WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez began his illustrious tenure with the City of Chicago as a firefighter on February 16,1977; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Sanchez was assigned to Engine Company 19; and

WHEREAS, On May 23^rd, 1980, Jessie Sanchez was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Truck 4; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Sanchez was subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned to Truck 11 and then Truck 15 over the next ten years; and

WHEREAS, On December 1^st, 2000, Jessie Sanchez was promoted to Battalion Chief; and

WHEREAS, Over the next 12 years Jessie Sanchez was assigned to City Wide Relief, Battalion 21 and was a Deputy District Chief; and

WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez received four promotions and numerous Unit Citation Awards during his years of distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby express our sincere appreciation to Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez for his dedicated service on behalf of the people of the City of Chicago; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this . resolution be presented to Battalion Chief Jessie Sanchez.
