RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert Smith has officially retired as a member of the Chicago Fire Department following more than three decades of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Robert Smith began his illustrious tenure with the City of Chicago as a Firefighter on March 1,1980; and
WHEREAS, Robert Smith's first assignment was a two-year stint on the CFD Marine Unit; and
WHEREAS, Robert Smith served for the next seventeen years at Tower Ladder 10, Engine 38 & Engine 116, respectively; and
WHEREAS, On July 26, 1999, Firefighter Robert Smith was assigned to Squad 5 where he was involved in special operations for the fire department; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Robert Smith retired at the end of 2012 after serving the citizens of Chicago for thirty-two years; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Robert Smith received numerous Unit Citation Awards during his years in service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Firefighter Robert Smith serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of April, 2013, do hereby express our sincere appreciation to Firefighter Robert Smith for his dedicated service on behalf of the people of the City of Chicago; and
