CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER RICHARD WOOTEN ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, On August 15, 2015, Police Officer Richard Wooten retired from the Chicago Police Department following sixteen years of dedicated public service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Police Officer Richard Wooten, Star #18383, began his illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department on May 17, 1993 and retired as a valued member of the 6th District. His presence will be sorely missed; and

WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Police Officer Richard Wooten upheld the finest traditions of the law enforcement community and his hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and

WHEREAS, Police Officer Richard Wooten devoted sixteen years of his life in public service to the people ofthe City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago Is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and

WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Police Officer Richard Wooten; now, therefore

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of November, 2015, do hereby express our gratitude for sixteen years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Richard Wooten; and

fie It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Richard Wooten and his family.
