RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 71; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of the Gold Coast, Kenneth G. Pigott was the loving and devoted husband of Jane; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott graduated from Iowa State University and Harvard Law School; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott was a Managing Partner at Vaduz Partners LLC, a private investment company, and previously served as a partner at the law firm of Winston 8s Strawn; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lyric Opera in Chicago since 2011 and had ably served on its board since 1998; and
 
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Kenneth G. Pigott earned a reputation as a visionary and inspirational leader; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott played a major role in bringing Renee Fleming to the Lyric Opera as its Creative Consultant; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott chaired the search committee that selected Anthony Freud as the Lyric's General Director; and
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott also oversaw the development of a new financial plan for the opera company; and
 
WHEREAS, A widely recognized civic leader, Kenneth G. Pigott served on the boards of OPERA America, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Chicago Children's Hospital and the Merit School of Music; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Kenneth G. Pigott serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kenneth G. Pigott to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Kenneth G. Pigott will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Kenneth G. Pigott imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby commemorate Kenneth G. Pigott for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth G. Pigott.
