RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-six; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus was the loving and devoted husband of the late Florence; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus was the much-adored father of Nancy to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus ably served as LaGrange Park's Village President from 1993 through 2001; and
WHEREAS, A Navy veteran, the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus fought for his country in the South Pacific during World War II; and
WHEREAS, After his discharge from the military, the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus worked for more than thirty years as an engineer with GTE Corporation; and
WHEREAS, In his retirement, the Honorable Raymond J. Piefrus volunteered on the village police and fire commissions and served for twelve years as a LaGrange Park Trustee before being elected President; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus remained active within the LaGrange Park community even after his retirement from public service; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus knew how to enjoy life, having taken sixty-three cruises over the last three decades; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus inspired the lives of countless people through his great personal goodness, charity and concern; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Raymond J. Pietrus for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Raymondjk Pietrus.
