RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Archbishop Blase J. Cupich has appointed the Reverend Clete Kiley to serve as Moderator of the Curia, effective June 1, 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been . informed of this appointment by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The role of the Moderator of the Curia is to work with archdiocesan staff to support the Archbishop in his roles of teaching, sanctifying and governing the faithful as well as supporting relationships with parishes, schools, social service agencies and ministry initiatives; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reverend Clete Kiley is currently a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reverend Clete Kiley is the Director for Immigration Policy for the UNITE HERE International Union and is a member of the steering committee for the United States Catholic Bishops' Justice for Immigrants Initiative; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reverend Clete Kiley previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Faith and Politics Institute for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reverend Clete Kiley was the Director for the Secretariat for Priestly Life and Ministry and was Special Assistant to the National Review Board and the Committee for the Protection of Children and Young People; and
 
WHEREAS, Earlier in his ministry, the Reverend Clete Kiley was a pastor, administrator and member of the College of Consultors; and
 
WHEREAS, The Reverend Clete Kiley is a Founder of the national Priest Labor Initiative; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend Clete Kiley serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby congratulate the Reverend Clete Kiley on his appointment as Moderator of the Curia and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success in this new leadership position; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Reverend Clete Kiley.
