WHEREAS, WNIiamca'i^^Nwy Wong opened the doors of their beloved restaurant, Mee Mah in 1982; and " CAV
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Under the loving care of the Wong family, Mee Mah Restaurant has been serving diners their delicious Chinese cuisine for over three decades and developing a positive reputation for using the freshest ingredients and providing both marvelous food and exemplary service; and
WHEREAS, People who come to their restaurant know that the Wong's and their excellent staff will always do their utmost to customize a particular dish based on the taste or dietary preferences of their customers - making every diner feel well cared for and appreciated; and
WHEREAS, Restaurant ownership has long played a part in William and Sandy's heritage. William's late sister, Helen Moy, and late brother-in-law, Don Moy, owned the iconic Kow Kow restaurant on Chicago's north side, for many decades before closing it in 2015; and other relatives operated The Three Happiness Restaurant for many years in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Mee Mah is known far and wide for the restaurant's distinctive batter-dipped eggrolls, lauded by customers and food critics alike for its defining hint of peanut butter; and
WHEREAS, William and Sandy make a positive contribution to both Chicago's thriving restaurant scene and their local community with their special cuisine and warm service; now and therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and members of the City Council of Chicago, gathered here this twenty third day of January, 2019, do hereby congratulate William and Sandy Wong on the 36th year anniversary of Mee Mah Restaurant and express our most heartfelt wishes for their continued success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to William and Sandy Wong as a sign of our honor and respect.
