RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi was a widely admired member of the business community and the loving husband for 22 years of Deirdre, nee Dunn; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi was the much-adored father of Kimberley and Stephen, the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi enjoyed a highly successful career in industrial and commercial real estate and served as the Chairman of Prime Group Realty Trust; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi raised his children in Wayne, Illinois where they grew up with "horses and were members of the Dunham Woods Riding Club; and

 

WHEREAS, A highly skilled equestrian, Stephen J. Nardi played polo around the world and served as President of the Illinois Polo Association during the 1970s; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi and his wife generously donated 300 acres of land to the Byron Forest Preserve which was named as an equine prairie in their honor; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi was proud of his Italian heritage and took numerous trips with family and friends to Italy and the Tuscany region; and

 

WHEREAS, A highly respected civic leader, Stephen J. Nardi served as a Regent to Loyola University Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Stephen J. Nardi serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Stephen J. Nardi to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Nardi was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Stephen J. Nardi imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby commemorate Stephen J. Nardi for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen J. Nardi.
