RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Dale Lind has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 99; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A resident of Northbrook, Dale Lind was a celebrated cantor and the loving husband for 72 years of Jessie; and

 

WHEREAS, Dale Lind was the much-adored father of Cary and Barbara, and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised on New York's East Side, Dale Lind began his singing career as a child and by the age of 11 was recording for RCA Victor; and

 

WHEREAS, Along with his brothers, Dale Lind had a religious program in 1937 called the "The Three Lind Brothers" which eventually became known as "Dale, Murray and Phil"; and

 

WHEREAS, The Lind brothers served in the United States Army in the Pacific during World War II where they performed on armed forces radio and entertained the troops alongside such greats of the entertainment industry as comedian Danny Kaye and actor Cary Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, Following the war, the Lind brothers toured the United States and Canada and appeared locally at Chicago's top nightspots, including the Mayfair Room, the Latin Quarter and the Rumba Room; and

 

WHEREAS, Dale Lind settled in Chicago where he was a cantor at Am Echod, B'Nai Jacob and the Albany Park Hebrew Congregation; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, talent and dedication of Dale Lind serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dale Lind to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Dale Lind will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dale Lind imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of February, 2016, do hereby commemorate Dale Lind for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dale Lind. /
