RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb was a widely admired member of the religious community and a longtime missionary in Peru; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of Beloit, Wisconsin, the Most JReverend John C. McNabb was the loving son of the late Clarence D. and Noreen; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb was the dear brother of Janet and the late Clarence, Jerry and Noreen; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb professed vows in the Augustinian Order in 1945 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1952; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb was ordained a Bishop in 1967 and served in Peru from 1964 to 2000; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb was named the first Bishop of Chulucanas in Peru and headed the diocese from 1988 to 2000; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb later served as Pastor of St. Clare of Montefalco Parish in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; and

 

WHEREAS, In his retirement, the Most Reverend John C. McNabb resided in Rockford, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, The holiness, sacrifice and dedication of the Most Reverend John C. McNabb serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend John C. McNabb will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and former parishioners; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Most Reverend John C. McNabb imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of March, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Most Reverend John C. McNabb for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Most Reverend John C. McNabb.
