Title: Tribute to late Lila Borgstrom

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom was the loving and devoted wife for fifty-eight years of Robert; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom was the much-adored mother of Michael and Steven, to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom was the beloved grandmother of four granddaughters and one great-granddaughter; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom was the matriarch of Wendella Boat Tours Company, which was founded by her father-in-law in 1935 and currently operates seven tour boats and a popular water taxi service along the Chicago River; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of German immigrants, Lila Borgstrom grew up on the North Side of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom married in 1952 and settled in Wilmette, where she helped run the family business from home while raising her two children; and
WHEREAS, When not involved in the business, Lila Borgstrom enjoyed golf and fiction, and was an active member of her church; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom inspired the lives of countless people through her great personal goodness, charity and concern; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Lila Borgstrom serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Lila Borgstrom to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Lila Borgstrom will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Lila Borgstrom imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby commemorate Lila Borgstrom for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
