RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 89; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago-City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready was a widely admired construction company owner and the loving husband for 49 years of the late Rita, nee Byrnes; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready was the much-adored father of Robert, Jr., Julie, Kevin, Jane, Liz and Rosemary, the grandfather of 15 and the great-grandfather of 20 to whom he imparted ^many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed,in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Born in. Chicago and raised in the Beverly neighborhood, Robert Ready was the;-son of Marie and Charles, who was the second-generation President of the Ready Paving & Construction Company; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready graduated from St. Ignatius High School and bravely served his country during World War II as an airman in the United States Navy; and
 
WHEREAS, Following, the war, Robert Ready graduated from Loyola University and joined his family's company in the 1950s; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready served for more than 20 years as President of the company which played a major role in paving roads during the housing boom in the- Northwest suburbs which, spanned the 1950s through the 1980s; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready was a Past President of the Illinois Road Builders Association and served as Palos Park's Road Commissioner from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s; and
 
WHEREAS, The Readys raised their six children in Palos Park and served on the committee which was responsible for the construction of Our Lady of the Woods Roman Catholic Church in Orland Park; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert Ready serve as an example to all; and
 
 
WHEREAS, His love-of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert Ready to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, Robert Ready was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert Ready imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby commemorate Robert Ready for his grace-filled life and do hereby express, our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of b/obert Ready. /
