RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Bernard. E. Cavitt has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Bartlett, Bernard E. Cavitt was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt was the much-adored father of Rodney, Sandra, Lisa and Jill, the grandfather of three and the great-grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt was the dear brother of Shirley; and
WHEREAS, Born in Southern Illinois, Bernard E. Cavitt was raised in Elgin where he worked as a paper boy for the Daily News to help support his family; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt attended Elgin High School and excelled as a teenager as Golden Gloves boxer; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt bravely served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, Upon returning home from the war, Bernard E. Cavitt married the former Elizabeth Gaede and developed Ace Coffee Bar, Inc., a small family-operated business into the largest independent vending company in the Midwest; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt was known for his unparalleled work ethic and business acumen; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Bernard E. Cavitt to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Bernard E. Cavitt was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourteenth day of October 2015, do hereby commemorate Bernard E. Cavitt for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
