MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ADELINA HILDA BARAJAS
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the June 23, 2017 death of Adelina Hilda Barajas; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 17, 1974, Adelina was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and devoted mother to her eight year old son, Gabriel. To her treasured family and friends who had the good fortune to know her, Adelina leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, and love; and
WHEREAS, Adelina accomplished much in her short life but her greatest joys were her family and her deeply held religious beliefs. She was a source of inspiration to all and a cherished presence in their lives. Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Adelina to those who knew her and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Adelina was known for her passionate conversations, her artistic talent, and her community work. Always a giver, Adelina was a champion for society's marginalized and neglected souls. She thought nothing of giving her only food to a homeless person and giving her last dime to someone in need. She touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness and her generous spirit; and
WHEREAS, Despite bur sorrow, we will continue to preserve and glorify Adelina's life. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence, and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty sixth day of July 2017 do hereby commemorate Adelina Hilda Barajas for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our heartfelt condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Adelina Hilda Barajas as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
