RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Stephanie D. Neely has announced that she will step down as Chicago City Treasurer to join Northbrook-based Allstate Corporation as Vice President, Treasury, effective December 1, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, In her new role at Allstate, the Honorable Stephanie D. Neely will be responsible for liquidity, capital, ratings and corporate structure issues at the company which is the largest publically-traded home and auto insurer in the nation; and
 
WHEREAS, With more than two decades of financial services experience, the Honorable Stephanie D. Neely will bring a host of financial and leadership experience to the position; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Stephanie D. Neely has ably served as Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer of the City of Chicago for eight years where she was responsible for investing a portfolio valued at approximately $7 billion; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Stephanie D. Neely began her career as a financial analyst with Smith Barney and worked in an executive role at Paine Webber before holding positions at First Chicago/Bank One Capital Markets and other firms, including Northern Trust Global Investments; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago's South Side, the Honorable Stephanie D. Neely earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Smith College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Stephanie D. Neely serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of November, 2014, do hereby express our sincere gratitude to the Honorable Stephanie D. Neely for her dedicated service on behalf of the City of Chicago and do hereby express our best wishes for her continued success and achievement in her new role as a Vice President at Allstate Corporation; and
