RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 87; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., was the 72nd Governor of the State of Vermont and the loving husband of Mary-Louise and the late Joan; and
WHEREAS, The son of a Vermont Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., served his country in the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., graduated from Tufts University and the Boston University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., practiced law and served three terms in the Vermont House of Representatives and rose to become Speaker; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 33, the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., was elected Governor and became the youngest person to hold that office in the history of Vermont; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure as Governor, the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., embarked on measures to stimulate economic growth and job creation as well as expand the state's park system; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., organized the Rutland law office of Keyser and Crowley in 1980 and was a Director of the Union Mutual of Vermont insurance company; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Proctor, the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable F. Ray Keyser, Jr.
