MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Sharon Ann Murray (nee Edmunds), on March 5, 2014, at the age of 74; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, The beloved wife of the late Robert J. Sr. CPD; loving mother of Thomas ISP/LUCPED (Deirdre), Patrick (Michelle), and Robert Jr. (Tracy); dearest grandmother of Shane, Brendan, Patrick Jr., Ally, Brigid, Maura, Kiley, Bobby, Liam, Devin, Molly, Sean, Ryan, Tyler and Dylan; Fond daughter of Herbert and Madeline Edmunds; Dear sister of Mary Catherine (Ronald CPD) Springer, Herbert (Carol) Edmunds, Janet (late Sean) O'Connell. Fond Daughter-in-law of Martin (Beatrice) Murray, Sister-in-law of James (Grace) Murray, Joan (late Jack) Schuh, late William CPD (Lee) Murray, Martin CPD (late Kathleen) Murray, late Jean (late James CPD) Mahon, and the late Thomas Murray. Best friend of Margaret (Ciro CFD) Spano. Cherished by many cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren; and
 
WHEREAS, always energetically supporting the efforts of the St. Edward Youth Program, Sharon was a staple on the sidelines at school sports games. Her cheering and enthusiastic fervor for the accomplishments of young people will be deeply missed by many. Although her voice will be gone from the bleachers, her presence will surely carry on in the countless people whom she inspired through her passionate community involvement; and
 
WHEREAS, active in and vital to any community she became a part of, Sharon fostered friendships and became close to the communities of St. Matthias Grade School, Immaculata High School, DePaul Academy, and left a lasting and indelible legacy at St. Edward Parish. Wife of a Chicago Police Officer, Sharon was a cherished part of the CPD family of officers and spouses, engaging and contributing immensely in the tradition of solidarity and community among the families of Chicago's Finest. As member of St. Anne Sodality, she was a listening ear, mentor and friend to many in this sisterhood, and was respected as a woman of grace, generosity, and loyalty; now, therefore
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this second day of April 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Sharon Ann Murray and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sharon Ann Murray as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
