RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Winnetka, Christopher Carley was a prominent real estate developer and the loving husband of Nancy, nee Smith; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley was the much-adored father of Clare, Christopher J., Beth and Brian and the grandfather of eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley was the dear brother of William and the late Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Winnetka, Christopher Carley graduated from Loyola Academy and Marquette University before earning a master's degree in business administration and a master's degree in urban studies from Loyola University Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley worked as a real estate consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton in Chicago before joining Continental Illinois National B
ank & Trust Company's real estate lending department as a trainee; and
WHEREAS, Within three years, Christopher Carley was named Vice President and Division Manager for construction lending; and
WHEREAS, In 1979 Christopher Carley left the bank to become President of Regis Homes of Illinois and worked in a series of high-profile real estate positions before starting his own firm, Fordham, in 1988 which built high-end residential properties; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley's Chicago projects included The Fordham at 25 East Superior Street, The Pinnacle at 21 East Huron Street and a luxury condominium building at 65 East Goethe Street; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his professional endeavors, Christopher Carley was an avid sailor and participated in a number of Chicago-to-Mackinac races; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Christopher Carley serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Christopher Carley to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Carley was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Christopher Carley imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of June, 2016, do hereby commemorate Christopher Carley for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christonher Carley.
