MARTY QC Alderman. 13"' Ward
Biography
Terry Miller, a lifelong Chicagoan, was born and raised in the neighborhood of Bridgeport. He attended St. George's/St. Agnes grammar school and then later St. Rita High School. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp from 1993-1997, where he was awarded multiple military awards. After being discharged from the Marine Corp in January 1997, he fell in love with wife Allison and her daughter Jordan. Terry and Allison dated for two years and married in December 2000. In April 2001, they welcomed daughter MacKenzie.
Terry was a dedicated public servant for ten years as he continued his training in the Marine reserves at Great Lake Naval Base in North Chicago. Terry became a truck driver with the Department of Aviation, then became a highway maintainer for Illinois Department of Transportation, where he operated heavy machinery and helped maintain a safe highway.
In 2015, Terry and his family moved to the Garfield Ridge area and Allison and Terry welcomed their son Trisden. Terry was a family man and a friend to many. He loved block parties and his local Alderman's Office.
In March 2021, their family received terrible news that Terry had been diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer. This type of cancer is one of the most malignant and aggressive types; within two years he underwent fifty rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, he lost his battle in September 2022. He fought a tremendous fight until the end and never once complained throughout the whole journey.
Terry is survived by Allison (CPD Administration Clerk) and three children:
Jordan (City of Chicago Public Health Nurse), MacKenzie (Student), and Trisden (St. Daniel's Student). Terry is the definition of an outstanding citizen and family man who is more than deserving of recognition.
Reasons for honoring
Terry Miller was a wonderful husband, father and friend. His legacy embodies public service and family values. He remains an inspiring example of the parent and friend we should all strive to be.
