RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Northbrook, the Honorable Richard L. Curry was a widely admired member of the judicial community and the loving husband for 63 years of Dorothy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry was the much-adored father of Richard Jr., Michael and Diane, the grandfather of seven and the great-grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry was the dear brother of the late George; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the Korean War, the Honorable Richard L. Curry was a former member of the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago under Mayor Richard J. Daley where he earned a reputation as a proven administrator; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry enjoyed a long and highly successful career and was appointed Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Brook Church in Northbrook; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Richard L. Curry serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Richard L. Curry to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard L. Curry was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Richard L. Curry imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of November, 2015 do hereby commemorate the Honorable Richard L. Curry for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Richard L. Curry.
