RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici was the loving husband of Nancy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici was the much-adored father of nine children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici was a six-term Republican United States Senator from New Mexico who leaves behind a legacy of bi-partisanship; and
WHEREAS, During his highly esteemed career that spanned 30 years, the Honorable Pete Domenici was known for his work on the federal budget and energy policy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici graduated from the University of New Mexico and early in his career taught math in his native Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici earned his law degree from Denver University and opened a law office in 1958; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Pete Domenici began his political career in 1966 when he ran for a seat on the Albuquerque City Commission and served as Mayor of Albuquerque from 1967 to 1970; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Pete Domenici serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Pete Domenici to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Pete Domenici imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Pete Domenici for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Pete Domenici.
