RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater was a Grammy-nominated Chicago blues legend and the loving husband of Renee Greenman Harrington Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater was the much-adored father of Heather, Alyssa, Randy, Jason and Edgar and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born Edward Harrington in Mississippi, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater moved to Chicago in 1950 and performed in local churches before taking jobs in South and West Side bars; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater recorded 17 solo albums; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater's final album was released in 2014 when it was recorded live on his 79th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2016; and
WHEREAS, The talent, hard work and dedication of Eddy "The Chief Clearwater serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Eddy "The Chief Clearwater to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and.
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Eddy "The Chief Clearwater imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby commemorate Eddy "The Chief Clearwater for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a jtiitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eddy "TheyQiief Clearwater.
