MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of William B. Johnson, on July 1, 2016, at the age of ninety-two; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, William, born in Chicago, Illinois on November 13, 1923, was the beloved husband of the late Doris; loving father of Linda Tocha; proud grandfather of Joseph (Heidi) Spartichino; adoring great-grandfather of Nick Spartichino; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. William leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, William was a United States Army Veteran who served in World War II. He married the love of his life, Doris Prussing, on May 1, 1948 and the couple were blessed with a loving daughter, Linda; and
WHEREAS, William retired as a Manufacturing Foremen and shortly thereafter, he and Doris relocated to Spring Hill, Florida. After his beloved wife Doris passed away, William moved to Crooked Lake (Crivitz), Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, He shall always be remembered for his soft voice, great conversations, wisdom, humor, witty comments, smile and so much more. He was very well respected and known for his interesting stories. His love of his family was paramount, never to be questioned or limited; and
WHEREAS, Active and vital member of his community, William touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his smile, enduring patience, and thoughtfulness will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth day of July, 2016, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of the William B. Johnson and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the William B. Johnson as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
