RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving husband of Dorothy; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher was the much-adored father of ten children and eighteen grandchildren to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The son of Irish immigrants, the Honorable John T. Keleher was raised in Chicago and served his country as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher graduated from Loyola University and Loyola University Law School; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher was an active participant during the 1960s in the civil rights movement and was President of the Elmhurst Human Relations Council and Chairman of the DuPage County Conference on Race and Religion; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher was a lawyer in private practice for twenty-six years before serving for the last sixteen years of his career as a Cook County Circuit Court Judge; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable John T. Keleher serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable John T. Keleher to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable John T. Keleher was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable John T. Keleher imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable John T. Keleher for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable John T. Keleher.
