RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 84; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was a widely admired member of the judicial community and the loving husband of Colette; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was the much-adored father of Ellen, Mary and Tom to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was the dear brother of Anna Maria; and

WHEREAS, The son of a 36th Ward Committeeman, the Honorable Louis B. Garippo attended Fenwick High School, the University of Notre Dame and DePaul University College of Law; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo joined the Cook County State's Attorney's Office where he prosecuted high-profile cases during the 1960s, including the Guido-Yonder gang of torture-burglars, a $250,000 burglary of the Zahn Drug company warehouse and the Summerdale cops-as-robbers scandal; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was a supervisor during the murder trial of Richard Speck; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo later served as a Criminal Court Judge and presided over the trial of serial killer John Wayne Gacy; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was widely admired by his peers in the legal community and well respected for his prudence and impartiality; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the bench, the Honorable Louis B. Garippo went into private practice; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Louis B. Garippo serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Louis B. Garippo was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Louis B. Garippo imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of June, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Louis B. Garippo for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a srMtable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Louis p. Garippo
