RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-seven; and
 
WHEREAS,.The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana the Honorable Edmund Reggie was a distinguished jurist and the husband of Doris; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie was the much adored father of six children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie graduated from Louisiana State University and Tulane University Law School; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie became the nation's youngest judge when he was appointed at the age of twenty-four to fill a vacancy in Crowley, Louisiana; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie was re-elected Judge every term until he retired 1976; and
 
WHEREAS, A close friend of the Kennedy family, the Honorable Edmund Reggie managed John F. Kennedy's presidential campaign in Louisiana; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie's daughter, Victoria, was married to the late Senator Edward Kennedy from 1992 until 1999; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Edmund Reggie serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Edmund Reggie to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edmund Reggie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Edmund Reggie imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of November, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Edmund Reggie for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Edmund Reggie.
