RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, William J. Campbell, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-four; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, William J. Campbell, Jr., was the proud father of William J., Ill and Victoria to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The son of the Honorable William J. Campbell, Sr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court in Chicago from 1959 to 1970, William J. Campbell, Jr., grew up in the Streeterville neighborhood; and
 
WHEREAS, William J. Campbell, Jr., earned a bachelor's degree from University of Chicago and a law degree from the University of Michigan; and
 
WHEREAS, A proud United States Navy veteran and reservist, William J. Campbell, Jr., served as an officer and a military judge in the Judge Advocate General's Corps in San Diego; and
 
WHEREAS, Returning to Chicago, William J. Campbell, Jr., continued his distinguished legal career by starting his own practice and then joining a series of prominent law firms that included Reuben 85 Proctor, I sham Lincoln & Beale, Rudnick 85 Wolfe and Piper Rudnick; and
 
WHEREAS, In 2004 William J. Campbell, Jr., was named general counsel of DLA Piper, the world's largest law firm; and
 
WHEREAS, An accomplished commercial litigator and mentor to many, William J. Campbell, Jr., was admired for his high ethical standards; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared William J. Campbell, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William J. Campbell, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of October, 2013, do hereby commemorate William J. Campbell, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William J. Campbell, Jr.
