RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mike" McKeon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mike" McKeon was a widely respected political strategist, pollster and analyst; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Joliet, Joseph "Mike" McKeon formed a global public opinion research and strategic marketing firm, McKeon 85 Associates, in 1973; and
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mike" McKeon led research and strategy for more than 700 political candidates and major corporations, including Gatorade, ComEd and WalMart; and
WHEREAS, Known as an "everyman" who could relate to all walks of life, Joseph "Mike" McKeon relied on his instincts to make key determinations; and
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mike" McKeon was a master of statistics who possessed a remarkable ability to analyze national and international trends; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Joseph "Mike" McKeon serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Joseph "Mike" McKeon to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Joseph "Mike" McKeon was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his two daughters, Meghan and Zora, his four brothers and sisters, and his four grandchildren, Joseph "Mike" McKeon imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016, do hereby commemorate Joseph "Mike" McKeon for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph "Mike" McKeon.
