RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago "City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Westfield, New York,, the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes was a widely admired member of .the judiciary and the loving husband of Denise and the late Ellen; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago on June 22, 1932; the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes was the son of. the late Herman and Fae Ray; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes was the much-adored father of Susan and Phillip, the stepfather of Michael, Brandi and Carson, the grandfather of four and the step-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes was the dear brother of Gerald; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes devoted 55 years of his professional life to working in the judicial system where he adhered to the highest and most noble ideals of the law; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes served with distinction as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 1981 to 1996; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes was an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney from 1965 to 1981; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald E. Magnes; enjoyed traveling, horse racing and reading the newspaper; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Ronald E.^Ma'gnes to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled.him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronald*E; Magnes will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Ronald E. Magnes.
