RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 49; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A Chicago native, Stuart Scott was a longtime SportsCenter anchor and ESPN personality; and
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott served for 21 years as one of ESPN's and ABC Sports' most recognizable and popular figures who was widely known for both his enthusiasm and colorful descriptions; and
 
WHEREAS, Amplified by his remarkable charisma and gift for language, Stuart Scott's signature sign-offs and catchphrases became part of pop culture; and
 
WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Stuart Scott previously worked as a broadcaster in Orlando, Florida, Raleigh, North Carolina and Florence, South Carolina; and
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott was presented the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs in July of 2014 which recognized his continued vitality for life and optimism while struggling with cancer; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Stuart Scott serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Stuart Scott to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott was the much-adored father of Taelor and Sydni to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Stuart Scott was the cherished son of Jacqueline and O. Ray and the devoted boyfriend of Kristin Spodobalski; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Stuart Scott imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby commemorate Stuart Scott for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and ,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stuart Scott.
