CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER PERNESSIA STUBBS ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On January 17, 2017, Police Officer Pernessia Stubbs will retire from the Chicago Police Department following twenty years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and
WHEREA, Police Officer Pernessia Stubbs, Star #19977, began her illustrious career with the Chicago Police Department on July 8, 1996 and will retire as a valued member of the 6th District. Her presence will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment ofthe motto ofthe Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished tenure, Police Officer Pernessia Stubbs upheld the finest traditions of the law enforcement community and her hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the communities she protected; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Pernessia Stubbs devoted twenty years of her life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Police Officer Pernessia Stubbs; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this first day of November, 2016, do hereby express our gratitude for twenty years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Pernessia Stubbs; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Pernessia Stubbs and her family.
