RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Thomas A. Geldermann was a widely admired member of the financial community and the loving husband of Nancy and the late Joan; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann was the much-adored father of eight children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann joined the Chicago Board of Trade in 1948 and served as a partner in the firm of John T. Geldermann 8s Associates, later known as Geldermann, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, An acknowledged expert in back office operations, clearing, and execution services, Thomas A. Geldermann and his partners built Geldermann, Inc. into a global derivatives broker that offered clearing and execution services to all of the major derivatives exchanges; and
WHEREAS, Known as "TAG" to his friends and colleagues, Thomas A. Geldermann was a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Chicago Open Board of Trade, the MidAmerica Commodities Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann was a past Vice-Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade and a Past President of the National Grain and Feed Dealers Association; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann was a Founding Director of the William Guy Forbeck Research Foundation and a supporter of St. Francis de Sales in Lake Geneva, Our Lady of Joy in Carefree, Arizona and the Little Sisters of the Poor; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann was a trustee of the Marquette University President's Council and the now-closed Campion Jesuit High School; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas A. Geldermann serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Thomas A. Geldermann was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas A. Geldermann imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate Thomas A. Geldermann for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomafe A. Geldermann.
