RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo was the loving and devoted husband of Liza, nee Seppala; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo was the much-adored father of Joseph P. and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo enjoyed a highly successful career in advertising sales with the Tribune Company that spanned 27 years; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo began his career as a sales representative in New York and was promoted to head the New York office after tripling sales during his first year; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo later transferred to the Chicago office as WGN Sales Manager and Vice President of the WGN Sales Company; and
WHEREAS, From 1978 to 1982 Joseph G. Antelo was the President of WGN Television Representatives Company and Vice President and Director of Sales, Radio and Television for WGN Continental Broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, In 1982 Joseph G. Antelo founded Tribune Entertainment where he was Executive Producer of the nationally syndicated show, "At the Movies," which was hosted by Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert whom he hired away from public television; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo also syndicated other shows, including "Geraldo" and the "U.S. Farm Report" and produced the Cubs Network; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Navy, Joseph G. Antelo served his country in the Korean War; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Joseph G. Antelo serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Joseph G. Antelo to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Joseph G. Antelo was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Joseph G. Antelo imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of March, 2016, do hereby commemorate Joseph G. Antelo for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph G. Antelo.
